40K Tournament Rules

The Tournament:

The tournament will have two stages; a group stage and a knockout stage. The group draw will be made on 13/05/09, at which point a deadline will be given by which all the group games should be completed. The deadline is based on the number of games to be played and it's purpose is to prevent the tournament overrunning, so if you are having trouble getting your last couple of games finished, contact the organiser.

The exact format of the knockout stages will depend on the number of entrants, but at least the winner of each group and highest ranked runner up will go through. Details will be clarified when the draw is performed.

Army Lists:

Armies will be 2000 points during the group stages, 2500 points during the knockout stage and 1500 points for the final. If you progress through the stages you will be able to completely rewrite your list, but must remain with the same parent army.

You may use any current army list published by Games Workshop, including army lists published in White Dwarf and Forgeworld publications so long as you are using the most recent version of the army list.

You may use units published in White Dwarf or Forgeworld publications so long as they are not flyers, super heavy vehicles or gargantuan creatures. In the event that differing rules exist for the unit in question, use the most recent version of the rules.

You will be expected to have a copy of the rules for your army and every unit in your army list present at every game you play. Photocopies and downloads are OK, hand written notes are not!.

Please submit a copy of your 2000 point army list to the organiser before the group draw. If you progress to the knockout stage, you will also need to submit your 2500 point list before the pairings are announced.

Games:

Generate games as per the WH 40K 5th edition rule book, however the Annihilation mission will be played using Victory Point rules, not kill points.

Please report the result of the game using the results slips provided. Please include the margin of victory as these may be needed to calculate tie-breakers. If you need more slips, the Organiser will have spares.

If you think you will not be able to make it to an organised game, please contact the Organiser. At the Organisers discretion, players who persistently default games may be excluded and their opponents credited with a victory.

You don't have to play all your games at the Club on a Wednesday if you don't want to.

Rules Disputes:

In the event of a rules dispute that you cannot resolve yourself, please consult the Organiser. The Organiser will keep a record of his decisions so that disputes are resolved as consistently as possible. If a dispute arises in a game involving the Organiser, the dispute will be resolved by the nominated Second Official. In all other matters the Organiser's decision is final.
